YOUR INVESTMENT

in a Birth Photographer's Services

On average, a Birth Photography session typically costs anywhere from $1,500-2,500 for photographers with many years of experience and a high volume of clientele. My goal in 2024 is to get more births under my belt and make Birth Photography more easily accessible to interested families, which is why my current rate is so low. If you are unsure, you are welcome to browse my portfolio on my website. The quality of your photos is the highest on my priority list due to the nature of the event and its significance to you and your child's life. Because of this, I can assure you that you will be very pleased by your final gallery, no matter the price.

Birth Photography is a more expensive service, so one desire of mine is to ease frustration and help potential clients understand why. Here is one of my favorite analogies:

Imagine someone just hired you as a photographer for their wedding; an event that is HUGE and will likely only happen once. But there's a few catches...

  • You don't know the date of the wedding, just that it'll be somewhere around a date, give or take 3 weeks in either direction

  • You don't know what time it'll be (and it could be in the middle of the night at 3AM)

  • You don't know how long you'll be there

  • Once you've taken your pictures you will spend hours, if not days, culling through and editing hundreds of individual photos

It's a unique service! In addition:

  • Birth Photography requires expensive equipment for high quality images. Especially in Birth Photography where both extreme low light, OR a single blaring hospital spot light in a dark room, is most common.

  •  A good camera that can handle low light well can be a minimum of $4500. This does not include good lenses, batteries, and additional basic, and bonus equipment to give you the best quality photos.

  • Any personal events in our own lives are at risk of being canceled or missed at any undetermined moment in time once a client goes into labor. (Don't get me wrong, we know we've signed up for this and it is so worth it for us as photographers!) But since we take more than one client per month, the chances of a mom going into labor (or not!) any day per month, means we can't commit to anything outside of our clients.

  • As a stay-at-home mama myself, not only am I on call, but a friend or family member is also on call to watch my toddler while I step away for a birth. So you secretly have 2 people on call 24/7 for you! :)

I hope this sheds a little bit more light on your investment in Birth Photography, but please reach out to me about any additional questions and concerns. We are all effected by these hard financial times, and I know that every circumstance and every family has their own unique set of challenges. If you are enduring a financial hardship, I would love to help you.
